A Manchester couple sent a wedding invitation to Queen Elizabeth II in 2012 as a joke. They never expected a reply. During her Diamond Jubilee tour of the city, she made a surprise detour to Manchester Town Hall and walked into their ceremony unannounced. The bride nearly collapsed. She is the only royal known to have accepted a wedding invite from the public.
