Old Tom was a wild orca in Eden, Australia. He led a pod that helped whalers hunt whales for 70 years. He slapped his tail at the river mouth to signal a whale had arrived. Sometimes he signaled after dark too. In return, they left the tongue and lips for the orcas. His skeleton still hangs in a museum today, teeth worn into half-circles from towing ropes.
