Redemption Facts

Hollywood casts Danny Trejo as the villain in over 400 films - because he spent 11 years in and out of prison. In August 2019, he was near a Sylmar intersection when a car ran a red light and flipped an SUV with a baby inside. Trejo crawled in through a broken window, and with bystander Monica Jackson freeing the car seat latch from the other side, pulled the child to safety. He kept the boy calm by yelling "superpowers" together. Hollywood was wrong about him.

Diamond Dallas Page was a professional wrestler. In 2012, he found his friend Jake "The Snake" Roberts in terrible shape. Roberts weighed over 300 pounds and could barely walk. Page moved him into his own house and called it the Accountability Crib. He put Roberts through yoga and workouts every day. Two years later, Page inducted him into the WWE Hall of Fame. Roberts is still sober today.

Alice Cooper got sober in 1983 by trading one addiction for another. In rehab, he took up golf. He played 36 holes a day, every single day, for a year, always with club pros. The new habit replaced the drinking for good. He still tees off six days a week at 5:30am. He once seriously considered playing a pro tournament in full stage makeup.

Jelly Roll was locked up in Nashville's juvenile detention center as a teenager. He got through it with only a radio and headphones. Years later, he headlined a show at Bridgestone Arena. He used the proceeds to build a real recording studio inside that same facility. He called the launch Redemption Songs. Kids locked up there now write and record in the room that once held him.
